Skating Class Level and Goals

BEGINNER

  • Skills that encourage true skating balance
  • Elementary pushing techniques
  • Knowledge of the parts of the skates and what each part does
  • Skating body posture

ADVANCED BEGINNER

  • More controlled methods of stopping and starting
  • Balance on one skate (both left & right) for greater period of time
  • Use of scissor motion to develop better forward and backward skating

INTERMEDIATE

  • More advanced skills balancing on one foot and then the other going both forward & backward
  • The techniques applied in crossing over, crossing behind while skating around a corner
  • Techniques used in turning from forward to backwards skating

ADVANCED

  • The body position and take off of elementary figures
  • More advanced techniques for turning forward to backward and backward to forward
  • Elementary jumping techniques
  • Elementary spinning techniques
  • Elementary corner steps of a pattern dance to music
  • Skating with a partner

ALL LEVELS

  • Warm up / stretching / balance / skate anatomy

 

At the completion of each 6 week segment, tests will be given to measure the progress of each skater.

Each skater will be given a Certificate of Accomplishment to depict the skills that each skater has achieved.

EARLY FALL CLASS PROGRAM

  • Every Sat. Morning 10:00 – 11:00 AM
  • For Ages 5 & up
  • Last for 6 weeks
  • Cost $60.00

Includes complimentary session
11:00am – 1pm and Regular Skate Rental

SKATING CLASSES

Fall Class:                       Oct. 25th - Nov. 29th 2014

Open Class:                     Dec. 6th - Dec. 27th 2014

Winter Classes:               Jan. 3rd - Feb. 7th 2015

Each one hour class begins at 10:00 AM
The class program includes the Saturday morning session from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Winter Program

9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

MUST HAVE PASSED THE ADVANCED LEVEL CLASS TO BE IN THE JR. CLUB

Instruction will focus on basic Olympic figure skating skills

  • FREESTYLE
  • DANCE
  • SCHOOL FIGURES
  • PAIRS
